Hello everyone

People are starting to join up to the list, which is fabulous.
Welcome, all. Please make yourself known on the wiki
http://wiki.digitalmentor.org/index.php?n=Main.WhosHere - or if you
don't like the idea of wiki-editing, just email your details to
someone and we'll stick them up for you.

If you have only recently joined, you may not have seen the discussion
that has already taken place. You can catch up at
http://digitalmentor.org/pipermail/list_digitalmentor.org/ which is
where the archives are stored.

It is, of course, early days, but there is still stuff you can do.
Mike Amos-Simpson has kicked off a discussion about what a digital
mentor might actually be (see list archives, or this post on the blog
- http://digitalmentor.org/2008/10/just-what-is-a-digital-mentor/ )
and a wiki page has been started to make a note of some ideas -
http://wiki.digitalmentor.org/index.php?n=Main.WhatIsADigitalMentor?
Feel free to pile in with your ideas, whether by email, blog comment
or adding to the wiki.

Another resource I think we can get started on is recording details of
exisiting or past projects which fall under the digital mentor idea,
or maybe some other linked concept, whether social reporting or
whatever. There is a wiki page for this
http://wiki.digitalmentor.org/index.php?n=Main.Projects but again, if
you don't like wikis, just email or blog and we can update the wiki
ourselves.

I attended the MySociety birthday party last night, along with David
Wilcox and others, where there was plenty of discussion about digital
mentors. I had a really productive chat with Helen Milner of UK Online
Centres, who are definitely people we will need to work with, I think.

Cheers

Dave
